Vinted Members Voice Anger Over Size Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Response

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.

They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Modifications

Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
